How Homeowners Can Take Advantage of IRA Rebates for Free Home Upgrades

As a homeowner, you can benefit from rebates through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA’s recently introduced heat pump incentive initiative, officially known as the High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act (HEEHRA) or Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program (HEAR), aims to encourage a transition to electric appliances like heat pumps. As a result, homeowners like you may be eligible for up to $14,000 in up-front money for appliance upgrades!

This government program seeks to achieve a 40% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030, alleviate inflation, and support domestic energy companies. With a heat pump upgrade, you can increase your home’s value, improve comfort, and save money on utility bills.

Our team at FreeHeatPump.com is here to help you get these upgrades easily and quickly. See if you qualify, and we’ll get you connected to a trustworthy contractor to put your rebate money to use!

How Do I Qualify?

Low-Income or Moderate-Income Home

To qualify as a low-income home (eligible for rebates to cover up to 100% of appliance costs), your household income must be below 80% of the local average, or someone in your house should be enrolled in certain programs like Medicaid or receive Free School Lunch. To qualify as a “moderate-income” home (eligible for rebates up to 50% of appliance costs), your household income must be below 150% of the local average. Check your eligibility by filling out our short questionnaire.

Replacement Requirements

The new appliance cannot be replacing an existing electric appliance of the same type. For example, if your home already has an electric heat pump, it doesn’t qualify for a new one under this program. But, if you’re swapping out a non-electric appliance, like a gas furnace, you may be eligible for a new electric heat pump.

Homeowner FAQs

Each state is implementing the appliance program individually, and the timeline will depend on your specific state. Once you qualify through our questionnaire, FreeHeatPump.com will continue to keep you updated about the status and timing of your appliance upgrades!
HEEHRA provides instant point-of-sale rebates of up to $8,000 for a qualifying home heating and cooling heat pump. The term “point-of-sale” indicates that the rebate is deducted automatically from the purchase price, eliminating the need for a separate refund application. This means that you do not have to pay out of pocket and wait for the rebate to be paid to you. Note that if you project costs more than the available rebates, our team will help you to look for other incentives to help minimize your out-of-pocket costs.
A heat pump efficiently regulates indoor temperatures by extracting or releasing heat, providing both heating and cooling functions. It uses electricity to transfer heat between the indoors and outdoors, offering an eco-friendly and cost-effective solution for year-round comfort.
